It’s that time of year… the time when warm breezes rustle through the trees, the sun shines overhead, and every day feels like a day for kicking back, throwing on your bathing suit and heading straight to the beach… or the nearest hot tub, as the case may be. Hawaiian week is on again at Big White Ski Resort from the 20th to the 27th of March 2013.

Wednesday 20th March
Kick off Hawaiian week with our Hawaiian themed Minute to Win It! Complete seemingly simple tasks in the span of one minute for your chance to win some great prizes… and if at first you don’t succeed, Kauai, Kauai again!

Thursday 21st March
Join us for Hawaiian Carnival Night in the Village Centre Mall. We’ve got tons of games to be played and prizes to be won. Don’t forget to bring your camera, as the staff will be dressed to impress! It’ll be a Hula-of a good time!

Friday 22nd March
Surf’s Up down in Happy Valley this evening! Catch a curler or rip down a set on our Wii Surfing game for Wii Night! Hang ten, dude!

Saturday 23rd March
Come join us for Hawaiian Carnival Night down at Happy Valley. We’ve got tons of games to be played and prizes to be won. Don’t forget to bring your camera, as the staff will be dressed to impress! It’ll be a Hula-of a good time!

Sunday 24th March
Seeing as the sport of Triathlon first appeared on the Hawaiian Islands, we've decided to honour that athletic spirit with our first ever Big White Triathlon! Complete the Big White Big Three of Skiing/Snowboarding, Snowshoeing and Skating to claim some great prizes, as well as the honourary title of Big WhiteTriathlete! Stay tuned for further details!

Monday 25th March
It's time for a surfboard encore! Surf’s Up down in Happy Valley this evening! Catch a curler or rip down a set on our Wii Surfing game for Wii Night! Hang ten, dude!

Tuesday 26th March
It's time to broaden our horizons, and reach out beyond the Hawaiian Isles to include the rest of the world in the globally popular game of... BINGO! Join us down in Happy Valley tonight for one of our most popular weekly events!

Seeing as Aloha means both hello and goodbye, we'll end Hawaiian week the same way we started it... with our Hawaiian themed Minute to Win It! Complete seemingly simple tasks in the span of one minute for your chance to win some great prizes!

March 21st - Waffle Eating Contest

If snacking is your thing, sign up for the waffle eating contest today at the Happy Valley Day Lodge from 3:00pm-4:00pm. Whip Cream, maple syrup, or however you like to dress them, as long as you eat them, you’ll be the winner.

Pre-register at the activities desk before 2pm.

March 22nd - Cookie Decorating

Happy Valley will be home to the Kids Culinary cookie decorating activity today in Happy Valley from 4:00pm-5:00pm. Bring the kids down for some art and eating.

Let's welcome our neighbors from Alberta and Manitoba as they head to BC for the best spring skiing around! It's Spring Break! March 23rd - Big Whites at Big White

Big White Ski Resort is following up the hugely successful event ‘Big Reds’ with its thrid annual “Big Whites at Big White”. This event is meant to provide a platform to showcase the best white wines that the Okanagan Valley is producing and give our guests an opportunity to taste the variety, quality and individuality coming from this area.

Big White's Kettle Valley Steakhouse, Carver's Restaurant, The BullWheel, Globe Café & Tapas Bar, Santé Bar & Grill, Swiss Bear and 6 Degrees Bistro will be on hand to prepare locally inspired appetizers to enjoy.

9:00am - 4:00pm

Get your entry form from the activities desk each day in the Village Center Mall and see how many of the 5 blue runs you can find each day! Anyone can participate in this free, fun week-long event, so get out there, explore the mountain, and stamp that entry form! Obtain 1 stamp each day to enter the draw to win the grand prize a Nintendo Wii! The Winner will be drawn on March 29th.

March 25th to 31st - Snowboard Cross Nationals

Big White Ski Resort Ltd. is pleased to announce that Telus Park will be the host venue for the Snowboard Cross Nationals for the next three years.

Big White Ski Resort has signed an agreement with the BC Snowboard Association and the Canadian Snowboard Federation which will solidify Big White Ski Resort as the SBX National Championship venue for up to and including the 2015 National Championship, as well as the Canadian stop for the Para Snowboard Cross World Cup this season. This configuration sets the stage for an unprecedented National Championship and World Cup event during the same week. The 2013 races are scheduled for March 25th to 31st.

March 29th to 30th - Egg Decorating in the Happy Valley Day Lodge

4:00pm to 5:00pm - Happy Valley Day Lodge

Join us for an egg-cellent Easter activity! Bring the kids down to the Happy Valley Day Lodge for some Easter Egg Decorating from 4pm to 5pm. The Easter Bunny will be on-hand to give his best decorating tips!

March 29th to 31st - Easter BBQs

Easter BBQs in the Village Friday, Saturday and Sunday featuring live music from Jon Bos 1:00pm until 3:00pm!!

March 30th - Last Night of Night Skiing for the Season

We're turning on the lights for the last time for the 2012/2013 season tonight!

The Plaza Chair is open from 3:30pm to 8pm and the Bullet Chair is open from 3:30pm to 8pm giving you access to Sun Run, Easy Street, Bullet Alley and Humming Bird.

Night skiing also includes TELUS Park, Big White’s world class terrain park. TELUS Park is open for night skiing from 5pm to 8pm.

March 30th - Earth Hour

Let's do our part for Earth Hour and turn off everything in our homes from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. Earth hour show us the importance of conserving energy and how we can treat mother nature better.

Big White will join hundreds of millions of people across the globe in switching off the lights of our business premises and our homes for one hour – Earth Hour, the world’s largest public action for the environment.

March 30th - The 7th Annual Okanagan Spring Film & Photo Contest

This is one of our most popular events of the season! Come and check out everyone's great footage from the 2012/2013 season! This is a free event held in the Happy Valley Day Lodge at 8:00pm, but come early because it will get busy!

Entries may be submitted from March 1st to March 25th, 2013. No Late entries can be accepted!

Conditions of entry: • ONE ENTRY PER CATEGORY • All film material must be owned by the contestant and shot in the 12/13 season • Contestants must select which category they wish to enter • Films may be no longer than 5 minutes.

Photo Categories: Lifestyle, Live Action and Landscape.

Film Categories: Amateur or Professional.

Send Photo entries to channel5@bigwhite.com.

Submit film entries on DVD (Only accepted in MPEG format) to the Activities Desk in the Village Center Mall.

April 6th and 7th - 16th Annual Neil Edgeworth Banked Slalom

This is the biggest weekend to be a snowboarder at Big White! Every year this Memorial event gets bigger and bigger! This event is so much more than a contest, but a real gathering of all riders young and young at heart!
The Inland Snowboard Big White Banked slalom first began in 1987. When Neil passed away in an avalanche in France we started this memorial event. We have all lost a few along the way like Greg Todds and Craig Kelly. This is a gathering for friends old and new to remember the true soul of the sport.

Last year we had 262 riders gather for this weekend of soulfulness. The Canadian Snowcross National team was there with Olympic gold medalist Maelle Ricker capturing first place in the Pro women and Rob Fagan taking home the gold in the Pro men's division.

Taking part in this historical snowboard event is more about fun and friendship than winning, although there are many prizes to be awarded worth well over $20,000

Age groups for men and women are:
14 and under
15 to 18
19 to 24
25 to 34
35 to 44
45 to 49
50 and over

The entry fee is $60 for amateurs and $85 for pros. This includes a contest T-shirt, 25% off lift tickets, a banquet dinner, a board draw on Saturday night and final awards on Sunday with many, many drawprizes to be won!.

A single run format gets you one timed run on Saturday and one timed run on Sunday. Your best run counts as your time for the weekend. We like to run the event in this format, so everyone gets the same amount of runs, and everyone is around for the whole weekend to have fun and enjoy all Big White Ski Resort has to offer.

April 9th-14th - Big White Reunion!!

April 9th to 14th: Daily Events at Big White Ski Resort

Calling all Big White Staff past and present! Big White is approaching 50 years old and we're throwing a BIG party!

We've extended our season this year and we want to celebrate in style with a year end reunion party! Staff from every decade will converge on Big White to ski, ride, party and share stories from the past. Everyone is welcome to join in the good times!

Special appearances throughout the week from Ski Cross World Champ Kelsey Serwa, Jon Bos and more! From wine & beer tastings to outdoor BBQs in the village, this will be a week filled with memories!

Big White memorabilia will be displayed in the Village Centre Mall all week for everyone to view.

April 12th, 13th & 14th - Outdoor BBQ

Come on out for our Outdoor BBQ's in the Village Center from 12:00 - 4:00 pm, complete with an Okanagan Springs Beer Garden featuring their NEW Summer Weizen, and live entertainment! Relax and soak up the atmosphere from another fantastic season!

April 14th - Ski 2 Sea

Race starts 9:30am near the top of Black Forest Express Chair

From the slopes of Big White to the shores of City Park in Kelowna, teams of up to seven people and soloists race others and the stopwatch over six legs that span 95 kilometers. The legs, in order of completion, are: alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, mountain biking, road cycling, running, and canoeing/kayaking. This event has grown immensely and has nine categories of competition, whether you’re on a team or on your own, competitive or recreational this is an exciting event for everyone!

The Black Forest chair will be open to load any public who park there. The Black Forest ski trails will be closed to public access until approximately 10:15am on Sunday. This will include Short Cut and Gondola Way. The Nordic trails will also be closed until 11:30am.
